CONCRETE SILO REMEDIATION
Problem
With time as with other concrete structures silos begin to deteriorate from such factors as , carbonation , air borne salts, settlement , movement , poor construction, poor design and ageing .
Highly valued commodities stored in the silos are endangered
Solution
Cormix has a range of repair materials suitable for application in difficult conditions that will provide a long term solution .
Remove all previous coatings and repairs to sound concrete and reinforcement where necessary
All structural cracks seal with Contite PU300/301 moisture tolerant structural polyurethane ,cracks requiring sealing just for durability use Contite PU200/201 flexible moisture tolerant polyurethane
Old honey combs, non moving cracks ,cold joints ,spalls to be cut out and repaired with Conpatch 600HS high strength>70N/MM2 high build polymer modified repair mortar containing a migrating corrosion inhibitor
Once all surfaces are sound spray on Conpatch NCI migrating corrosion inhibitor and over coat with two coats of Elastoclad carbonation coating at total 400 micron DFT
If structural strengthening is required use the Cormix Condur CF carbon fibre series as specified after making good all surfaces then apply in two coats Cormix anti Carbonation coating Elastoclad at a min of 400 DFT
